JV loses a nail biter at Lower Merion, 47-49

The Conestoga JV fell in a tough one to Lower Merion, 47-49. Stoga got off to a good start with inside baskets from Ronan Mayock and Thomas McGovern, but Lower Merion answered with a three and a steal and basket off the press and it was tied 9-9 after one.
In the second quarter Brooks Rush and Evan Medley came off the bench and contributed with rebounding and scoring. Miles Scott also hit a three, but it was not quite enough as Conestoga trailed 19-20 at the half.
It was Scott Martin’s turn in the third quarter, hitting a pair of threes and allowing Stoga to regain the lead. Shane Scott got a couple of steals and run outs for easy buckets and then fed Ronan Mayok inside for layups on consecutive possessions, creating a 36-29 advantage for Conestoga at the end of the third.
Despite a one man 7-0 run by Scott Martin in the fourth quarter, Stoga struggled against the press and came up empty on their last possession, finally succumbing to Lower Merion 47-49. Scott Martin finished with 15 points, Ronan Mayock had 11 and Thomas McGovern contributed 9. Next up for the JV squad is Harriton at home on Thursday
