Ridley stuns Varsity 45-43 giving Stoga their first Central League loss

The Ridley Green Raiders stunned the Conestoga Boys varsity team 45-43 at Ridley High Tuesday afternoon.  It was Stoga’s first defeat in the Central League this season.  The Pioneers started out cold and trailed the 1st quarter by a score of 5-8.  In the second quarter Stoga heated up as senior Charlie Martin (15 pts, 3 reb) and Soph Zach Lezanic (14 pts, 5 reb) scored 12 of the teams 17 points and took a 2 point lead into halftime. JV pulls out win in double overtime against Ridley

In a low scoring affair, Shane Scott helped the JV pull out a double overtime victory with a team high 13 pts. Stoga got off to a good start in the 1st quarter scoring 9 pts and holding Ridley to a single basket. Thomas McGovern, Truth Ingram, Ronan Mayock, and Shane all had a bucket in the period. Varsity moves into Central League lead with 52-47 win over Penncrest

The house was rockin’ Friday night as the two remaining Central League undefeated teams clashed in a raucous Conestoga High gymnasium.   The Conestoga Pioneers (13-2, 10-0) defeated the Penncrest High Lions (13-3, 9-1) by a score of 52-47.  Senior captain Scott Shapiro (17 pts, 2 reb)  sparked the game and the crowd hitting back-to-back 3 point field goals to start the 1st quarter and Stoga led 16-8 after the 1st.  The excitement in the crowd never relinquished.  The Pioneer Pit met their biggest match of the year as Penncrest students were loud and supportive of their team. JV Falls to Penncrest 50-40

  Conestoga got a basket from Ronan Mayock in the first quarter, but that was all she wrote and the Pioneers trailed 7-2 after one. The second quarter featured 5 points from Scott Martin, but Penncrest went on a 16-5 run as turnovers plagued the Pioneers, and Stoga trailed 26-14 at the half. Varsity staves off late GV rally to remain undefeated in Central League

Another thrilling varsity boys basketball game at Conestoga High School Wednesday night as Stoga staved off a late Garnet Valley rally and secured a 63-55 victory.  The Stoga gym was rockin’ as the Pioneer Pit was packed and the stands full in part to support Unite for Her and in part to see if the boys could remain undefeated in the Central League.  The Pioneers were led by Senior captains Charlie Martin (18 pts, 10 reb), securing his first double-double of the season, as he opened the game with three 3-point buckets and ended the game making a perfect 5 straight free-throws; and Scott Read more…


JV plagued by turnovers in late game loss to Garnet Valley

Conestoga got off to a quick start with a couple of baskets by Ronan Mayock in the first quarter, but Garnet Valley responded with a 5-0 run of their own and led 10-9 after one. The second quarter featured a 6-0 run from the Pioneers, including 4 points from Myles Scott and two from Shane Scott off a steal. High School midseason league update

By: CoBL Staff (@hooplove215) The Central League is eight games deep into league play, and at the moment two teams stand unbeaten: Conestoga (11-2, 8-0) and Penncrest (12-2, 8-0), who have a combined two-game lead on the rest of the pack. The Pioneers and Lions will meet Friday at Conestoga in a game that could very well decide the regular-season title; it could come down to how ‘Stoga is able to limit Penncrest junior Tyler Norwood, one of the area’s best bucket-getters.
