Varsity pulls away from Harriton in the 4th quarter for 68-50 victory

It was a quiet gym at Harriton on Wednesday night but that didn’t bother Stoga as handled the Rams pressure defense in the 4th quarter to pull away with the 68-50 victory. Despite the lack of atmosphere, Stoga used some fast break baskets to stake a 17-12 1st quarter lead. The 2nd period was  a little bit back and forth with both teams having trouble converting shots around the basket. Stoga led at the half 33-26.
The third quarter saw Harriton make a run and close the gap. Two late 3 pointers by Shane and Zach however, helped push the margin to 46-37 after three. Stoga was able to take advantage of a flurry of fouls by Harriton and march to the free throw line as a result of being in the double-bonus with 5 minutes remaining. Eventually both teams cleared their benches and the Pioneers came away with a 68-50 win.
Zach was the leading scorer with 22 pts with help from Shane (12 pts) and Milton (7 pts). Ten Pioneers broke into the scoring column for the game with Charlie and Wes leading the rebounding efforts. Next up is Pink Out night Friday night against Marple Newtown. Hopefully no weather event will be in the forecast…
