JV falls to Haverford 51-34

Despite the senior night DJ spinning tunes, the team just couldn’t get into the groove against a pressing Haverford squad. The game started off quick with back-to-back baskets and a nice steal from Barzcak. Steele sunk several free throws and Deshetler played strong under the boards to end the quarter with the lead, 12-11.
The only second-quarter points came from Smith as the rest of the team seemed to spend more time on the floor than on their feet. As a result, Stoga ended the half down 14-18.
The guys came out hungry in the second half with Mayock leading the rebounding effort. Piccone ran the floor with smart passing and blocks. But the red-footed Fords started to fire away from the three-point line as the score slowly widened.
Troy and Murphy drew fouls in the fourth quarter, while McGovern converted an offensive rebound into an And 1. Quick-footed Ridder showed strong defensive skills. However, Haverford continued to sink their threes and the Pioneers just couldn’t match up.
