Varsity uses stingy 2nd half defense to overtake Ridley 44-30

Varsity traveled to Ridley Tuesday evening for the 2nd half of a rare Central League back-to-back. Stoga weathered a slow start and kept their composure despite some overly aggressive man-to-man defense by Ridley and held a narrow 11-9 advantage after one.
Stoga started to pick up some rhythm in the 2nd quarter behind the offensive support of the bench with Wes, Evan, and Scott all posting contributions. The game remained tight with Stoga taking a 24-22 lead into the half.
The Pioneers seemd to have left their offense in the lockeroom during the 3rd quarter. But a few key baskets by Evan on assists from Zach helped us maintain a 3 point lead heading into the final quarter. The 4th period saw continued great defensive play holding Ridley to a meager 8 second half points. Some outstanding work inside the paint by Milt and drives and dishes by Zach helped the Pioneers pull away to a comfortable 44-30 victory.
Stoga was led by Milt (12 pts. 6-8 FT), Zach (10 pts. 5 asst), and Evan (9 pts 6 reb). Next up a key Central League match up against Lower Merion at Bryant Gymnasium.
