Better level of intensity

After a two-game scoring drought, shots started falling again for Conestoga as the Pioneers got back on the winning track Jan. 14 with a 69-44 demolition of Central League rival Harriton.

Back on its home floor, Conestoga came out of the locker room with a purpose and it showed.

“We brought a better intensity level (tonight) and that combined with unselfish play made the difference,” said coach Sean Forcine. “Everyone was looking for the extra pass and that turned into points.”

Rowan Miller and Sam Gibbs led the scorers with 21 and 12 points, respectively while six Pioneers combined for 16 assists.

Ben Robinson, Cory Hogan and Shane O’Brien kept the point parade going with 7 each. Hogan had a team-leading 5 rebounds to go with 5 assists and 2 steals. Miller added 5 assists and 4 steals to his numbers. A total of 12 players saw action for Conestoga and 10 of them scored.

Angelo Bertolotti and Braden Weinberg grabbed 4 rebounds each.

“We were very active on defense and got a lot of deflections that led to fast-break baskets” added Forcine.

“Friday is going to a touch matchup at Marple Newtown, but we’ve got 2 days to prepare and we’ll be ready.”
