Trailing by as many as 15 points in the first quarter, Conestoga came roaring back to stun defending Central League champion Lower Merion, 73-70 on the Aces` home floor.
Stoga got its first lead of the game with less than two minutes remaining.
Juniors Rowan Miller (24 Points, 7 Assists, 4 Rebounds) and Cory Hogan (16 Points, 8 Rebounds, 4 Assists) combined for 40 points, but they weren`t the only heroes for the Pioneers, who improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Junior Shane O`Brien netted 11 points, Senior Sam Gibbs scored 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Sophomores Luke Hunter had 7 points and 5 rebounds, and Sunny Tummala added 5 points and 3 assists to round out the scoring.
“Being down 15 on the road in our league is not an easy thing to come back from, said coach Sean Forcine. “But our guys believed in their roles, and didn’t let anything that happened phase them.
“I was proud of our resiliency. Not one time did anyone get upset or drop their head, they just kept chipping away. They trusted each other and played as hard as they could. If that continues, we`re going to be tough to stop!”
Next Game is home opener vs. Upper Darby on the 17th at 7pm! Come out to support the Pioneers.
