Victory on Senior Night

Ridley tried to ruin Conestoga’s senior night Jan. 23, but the Pioneers battled back from a double-digit deficit to overtake the visitors, 42-37, and keep their Central League title hopes alive.

Appropriately, senior Ben Robinson led the way with 12 points while juniors Rowan Miller and Shane O’Brien contributed 9 points each. Sophomore Sunny Tummala swished a pair of 3-pointers and junior Cory Hogan had 4 points and was a stalwart on the boards.

“I’m proud of our seniors,” said coach  Forcine. “They came out with a ton of energy. Angelo got on the floor and that really got us going for the rest of the game. Really happy with our defensive effort and our execution in the fourth quarter with a lead.

“We took 7 shots in the final quarter and 6 of them were layups with no turnovers.”

Robinson’s totals included 4 rebounds and an assist. Miller added 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds while O’Brien made 4 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Senior Sam Gibbs, wearing a boot after his injury in a previous game, watched from the bench.

Forcine said he is hopeful the 6-3 senior will be back for the playoffs.
