Varsity hangs on to narrowly defeat Glasgow H.S. (DE) 45-43 for first win

Stoga came out strong in their second game of the season and and managed to hang on in the end for a hard fought victory over Glasgow H.S. from DE. With a combination of aggressive defense and 3-point shooting, Stoga found themselves with a double digit lead up 27-11. Shane, Scott, and Milt all hit from 3 pt range in the half.
Unfortunately Glasgow was not going to go quietly back home on this snowy afternoon and scored 9 straight points to open the 2nd half. Stoga found themselves clinging to a narrow lead 33-27 after three quarters. Evan had some key plays down the stretch on offense and defense converting free throws and blocking shots. Charlie also had a team high 5 blocks for the game. Milt took it strong to the basket to put the Pioneers in the lead 43-38 with under a minute left.
But some sloppy play down the stretch gave Glasgow the chance to tie or take the lead but Charlie swatted away their final shot as time expired. Shane led all scorers with 15 pts and Charlie, Milt, and Zach chipped in with 7 a piece. Stoga opens Central League play on Tuesday against Haverford H.S.
