Varsity rolls to 4th straight with thrilling OT victory over Lower Merion

Conestoga Men’s Varsity Team came out victorious in overtime at rival Lower Merion High School Tuesday night. The Pioneers (4-0) were led by the seemingly unstoppable Angus Mayock (having a career-high 36 points, 6 rebounds). Stoga and the Aces (3-3) swapped leads throughout the contest with no team leading by more than five points the entire game. Lower Merion’s high-pressure, full-court defense and athleticism was equally matched by Conestoga’s physical man-to-man help defense and clutch shooting. Peyton Jones was especially strong in the 4th quarter and Overtime at finally slowing down the Aces’ Terrell Jones (32 points).
In the overtime, Stoga outscored LM 11-8 led by Scott Shapiro (18 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) who made a huge 3-pointer and two key free throws to keep the contest tight. Jones, Charlie Martin (5 points, 4 rebounds), and Mayock also made clutch free throws in the extra period to secure the big road victory.
