The Conestoga Boys Varsity basketball team started the 2021-2022 season with a strong victory against Downingtown East in the Unionville Tournament and took on Pope John Paul II in the championship game. It was a close contest, with Conestoga taking the lead 10-8 at the end of the first quarter with solid ball movement. The Pioneers’ lead flipped heading into halftime, with Pope John Paull II up 25-21 at intermission. The second half saw Pope John Paul II implement a tough defense, holding Stoga to just 7 points in the third. In the final quarter, Conestoga outperformed Pope John Paul II 12-9, but it wasn’t enough to pull away with the win with a final score of Stoga 40 and Pope John Paul II 46.
