There was no place like home for the Conestoga Boys Basketball team Dec. 12 as the Pioneers pleased the fans at the PIT with a 64-56 victory over Central League rival Ridley.

Playing in their home opener, sophomore Rowan Miller and senior Brendan Styer combined for 31 points as Stoga stayed perfect in conference play at 2-0 and improved to 3-1 overall.

The game was close throughout until the Pioneers pulled away in the closing minutes.

“We got away with a lead in the first half, as we struggled with rebounding,” said Sam Bevan, who served as head coach for the contest. “The group that was out there in the second half did a really good job rebounding the ball.”

“Ben Robinson and Miller were in a bit of foul trouble, but Brendan Styer did a really good job controlling the game and keeping everyone together.  Brendan did a good job running our offense and getting everyone of his teammates involved.”

Miller had 17 points and 7 assists, Westin Fryberger added 7 points and 8 rebounds, while Styer had 14 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. Off the bench, Sam Gibbs had 11 points and 2 assists while Cory Hogan contributed 7 points and 4 rebounds.

Stoga will return to its home court Thursday to face Lower Merion at 7pm..
