On the road for their first Central League match-up against Haverford, Stoga got off to a slow start and held a narrow 10-8 lead after one period. Milt and Zach provided most of the offensive out put in the 2nd quarter as a scrappy Haverford team took a 22-21 lead into halftime.
The 3rd quarter saw Haverford pull out to a 7 point lead behind some hot 3-point shooting, Stoga turned up the defensive pressure behind Colin, Wes, and Evan and the comeback was on. Some inside baskets cut the Ford’s lead to 31-27 after 3. Stoga maintained the energy level in the 4th and forced some Haverford turnovers leading to transition baskets. Some excellent foul shooting from Zach (7-9) helped Stoga head home with a hard earned victory 48-40.
Scoring leaders for the Pioneers were Milt (13 pts), Zach (11 pts), and Shane (9 pts).
