Zach Lezanic hits milestone as Conestoga ends regular season on high note with 73-38 victory

The Varsity travelled to Upper Darby Thursday night hoping to close out the regular season with a strong effort and maintain their rankings in District 1 6A. Mission accomplished plus the added highlight of having Zach Lezanic score his 1,000 career point on a drive to the basket early in the 2nd quarter! This is a key accomplishment for any player, but Zach achieved this milestone in just 3 years as his freshmen year was lost to injury. The game was stopped momentarily so Zach could be congratulated by his coaches and teammates who are all well aware of the hard work and many hours of practice that has gone into this accomplishment.
An inspired Stoga team jumped on Upper Darby early and never let up racing out to a 22-9 advantage after the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter was more of the same as Stoga generated turnovers with their defense and made sure to rebound the misses by the cold shooting Royals. Shane Scott and Evan Medley contributed to the offensive outburst in the 2nd period.
Conestoga kept their foot on the gas throughout the second half at times pushing the lead to 30 points. Everyone got in on the action with some getting their first Varsity minutes. A great way to head into the Central League Playoffs on Saturday!
Leading scorers: Zach (18), Shane (14), Evan (12), Milton (8), Conner (7).
Looking for a great turnout on Saturday at 2:30 at Marple Newtown High School as the Pioneers face off against Penncrest in the Central League semi-finals!!
