Defense and rebounding key as Varsity rolls to 51-28 win over Haverford High School

The Varsity’s defense and rebound intensity were the stars of a 51-28 victory at Haverford High Tuesday night.  With senior leader Angus Mayock missing his second game due to an ankle injury, Stoga had 11 different players score and record rebounds.  The Pioneers were once again led by seniors Scott Shapiro (13 pts) and Charlie Martin (8 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast).  After a 10-2 first quarter lead, Shapiro, Martin and sophomore Zach Lezanic opened the second by hitting four 3-point FG to take a commanding lead and allow the entire team to get in on the action.  Starters senior Scott Lambert (5 reb) and sophomore Milton Robinson (4 reb) cleaned the glass.  Senior Will Marshall (4 pts, 4 reb, 2 ast) was impressive off the bench, as was junior Collin McFillin (4 pts, 3 reb).  Next up for Conestoga is a Thursday night 7 p.m. home test against a very good Strath Haven High School team.  Go Stoga!
