Varsity continues to roll in Central League with exciting 47-43 win at Marple Newtown

With Team Captain and leader Angus Mayock out indefinitely with an ankle injury, questions arose on how would Conestoga respond?  The Pioneers answered with a an exciting 47-43 win Friday night at Marple Newtown High School.
Senior Scott Shapiro (23 pts) came out on fire with 15 points in the first quarter hitting three 3-point FG in the period.  Stoga’s defense took over and held Marple to 16 first half points enroute to a 27-16 lead at the intermission.
Marple’s defense and prowess on the boards brought them to within 2 points after three quarters (31-29) but Stoga’s hot shooting Senior Charlie Martin (13 pts, 9 reb, 2 ast) hit two big 3’s to open the final period, and improved team rebounding helped the Pioneers hold off the Tigers’ late rally for the 47-43 final.
