CHS 58-49 over Hempfield in Non-League Play

Conestoga’s last home game of the regular season produced a 58-49 victory over Hempfield Feb. 3 to set the stage for its final Central League game Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Garnet Valley.

Rowan Miller triggered the latest win with a 17 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds. He got plenty of help from junior Ben Robinson and senior Westin Fryberger, who contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Coach Sean Forcine saw the benefits of the victory. “It’s a good non-league win against a decent team with a winning record so it helps us in the district standings. We kept our poise when they started trapping down the stretch. We countered with quick passes and attacked the rim. Rowan had a tremendous game with a ton of assists and Westin had some solid finishes.”

The 14-7 Pioneers have clinched no worse than third place in the conference with a chance to finish second the standings if things go their way. At 11-4, Stoga currently trails Lower Merion and Radnor, but can move up one spot with a win and a Radnor loss to Springfield.
