CHS Boys Celebrate a Win over Upper Darby on Senior Night

The Conestoga boys basketball team celebrated Senior Night in style, pulling away in the final period for a 46-39 victory over Upper Darby at a fan-packed PIT on Feb. 2nd. All ten seniors traded time on the floor throughout the first period while the underclassmen waited their turn in the second period.

Juniors Ben Robinson and Sam Gibbs grabbed the spotlight the rest of the way, finishing with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Gibbs’ total resulted from four long-range baskets. Brendan Styer contributed 6 rebounds and 3 points on the home floor.  Landon Ross, Robinson and Gibbs each pulled down 5.

The score was tied at 21 at halftime and the Pioneers led 30-29 after three quarters. Stoga took control in the final eight minutes, outscoring the Royals by 16-10.

“Congrats to our seniors, I’m really proud of them,” said head coach Sean Forcine. “They put us in good position. We showed poise down the stretch, taking care of the ball and making the extra pass. Sam stepped up with some big threes and Landon got some big rebounds in the second half.”

It’s a quick turn-around for the Pioneers, who host Hempfield Saturday Feb. 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the final home game of the regular season. Seniors playing are Styer, Ross, Westin Fryberger, Liam Smith, Sean Mackey, Rowan Hornaday, Danny Johnson, Tommy Costigan, Scott LeComte and Benner Miller.
