Pioneers Victorious Over Haverford at Home during Paoli Wildcat Night

Balanced scoring and success at the foul line made the difference for the Conestoga boys basketball team in the Pioneers’ 58-49 victory over Central League rival Haverford Jan. 25.

Coach Forcine commented “I’d like to give Haverford a lot of credit.  They shot the lights out.  Coach Heinerichs had them prepared.  We had a lot of poise down the stretch;  hit our foul shots, took care of the ball and defended really well to give us the victory”

Brendan Styer, Ben Robinson and Cory Hogan reached double figures as the home team improved its record to 11-5 overall, 8-3 in the conference. Styer added 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists to his 13 points. Robinson had 11 points to go with 2 assists and 2 rebounds. Hogan had 11 points and 9 rebounds. Rowan Miller was also a factor with 8 points, 6 assists and 2 steals before fouling out in the fourth quarter.  Sam Gibbs hit 2 clutch threes. Conestoga converted on 17 of 19 trips to the charity stripe.

Forcine loved the atmosphere of Paoli Wildcat Night.  “So happy to see all the youth come out, support us, and stick around after to meet the players!  Some things are more than basketball; to entertain the community and have them want to be a part of this.   Hopefully, some of those kids are on the floor playing for us in 5-10 years.”

Stoga competes again at Ridley on Saturday, Jan 27th and home against Neshaminy HS Monday, Jan 29th. Let’s pack the pit!
