Stoga Tops Hatboro Horsham 42-30; Improves to 4-1 on Season

The Conestoga Boys Varsity Basketball Team played its second home game of the season and defeated Hatboro Horsham High School 42-30 in a fast paced contest.

After Thursday’s loss against Garnet Valley, the Stoga boys were hungry for a win. Conestoga’s starters Brendan Styer, Ben Robinson, Liam Smith, Patrick Corr, and Abe Dembele started off hot with elite defense and scoring at will. Styer and Robinson made shots around the court while leading the offense. Smith and Corr were outstanding defensively, causing turnover after turnover after turnover. Dembele soared for boards over defenders who wouldn’t dare to jump with him.

“I was really happy with our attitude,” said Conestoga Boys Head Varsity Coach Sean Forcine.  “Coming into the game we were all very positive. One bump on the road doesn’t mean anything to us. Our guys want to keep getting better every day.”

Conestoga’s bench shined on the court while bringing the energy into the game. Westin Fryberger and Brian Schubert were offensive studs, shooting from deep to increase the lead.  Connor Demming coordinated the offense while also snagging a couple of huge rebounds against the Garnet big men.  Jack Vesey and Aden Kim came through on the boards offensively and defensively to create second chance points.

Coach Forcine added, “Coming into the third quarter, it seems like we turn it up a whole other notch. It was tight at halftime; we had a nice run going into the third and that propelled us for the rest of the game. Our defense was really what sealed the game. I think we outrebounded them 33-21, which I think really helped us get the win.”

Conestoga (4-1) will play their third of a four-game home stand against Haverford High on Tuesday, December 13, at 7:00 PM.
