Stoga Defeated by Haverford High School 36-44

The Conestoga Boys Varsity Basketball Team unfortunately could not pull off a win against a physical Haverford High School, losing 36-44.

“We couldn’t really score the ball,” said Head Coach Sean Forcine after the game. “We made some corrections at halftime, but unfortunately we dug ourselves a little bit of a hole in the first half.”

Throughout the game, the Pioneers were unable to hit shots. They were ice cold from around the perimeter and couldn’t break down the Haverford defense to drive in the lane. Several turnovers and inabilities to grab rebounds cost them, even after going on a run that would bring the score neck-and-neck. Defensively, Conestoga couldn’t stop the physical drives of Haverford, allowing many back-door cuts and easy drives to the basket.

“I thought our defense really responded in the second half,” said coach Forcine. “But we settled too much for the three ball and didn’t attack the rim like we usually hope for, and our percentages reflect that.”

Conestoga looks forward to fixing their mistakes and adjusting their gameplan to be ready to battle it out with Norristown High School on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 7:00 PM
