Stoga defeats Norristown High School 56-51 After Slow Start; Improves Record 5-2 This Season

The Conestoga Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Norristown High School in what could’ve been a tough non-league loss, but the boys pulled it together and went home with a victory.

Conestoga starter’s were a bit on their heels at the beginning of the game as Norristown started off strong, making some easy points and rebounds and knocking down shots from behind the perimeter. It was in the second half where Conestoga shined with starter Ben Robinson exploding offensively, shooting lights outs from three, and Abe Dembele scoring at will under the basket. Brendan Styer quarterbacked the offense, which gave many of his teammate’s space to score . Liam Smith and Patrick Corr were strong on defense, locking down the opponents which led to multiple turnovers for points at the other end.

Conestoga’s bench also shined in the second half with Brian Schubert helping out lead the offense and Westin Fryberger providing shots around the perimeter. Landon Ross came through with big boards and defense alongside Dembele, which led to opportunities to score at the other side of the court. The energy on the bench was a huge factor, as the boys did not show that in the first half but later turning that around and provided the adrenaline rush for the players on the court.

Conestoga hopes to increase their 5-2 season record to 6-2 this Friday night at 7:00 PM at the floors of Ridley High School.
