Rowan Miller led the way as the Conestoga High School boys basketball team outlasted Radnor, 52-48, Jan. 6 moving into second place in the Central League standings. The sophomore point guard finished with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals as the Pioneers improved to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in league play.
“It’s a big win for us,” coach Sean Forcine said. “Radnor is a really good team and super physical. We went toe-to-toe with them on the boards. I think the difference was our poise down the stretch. I usually don’t call out individuals, but Rowan Miller hitting big foul shots and Cory Hogan taking a tremendous charge were helpful in coming away with the win. It’s something we preach, but it takes a lot of guts to shoot free throws and take a charge with under 30 seconds and the game on the line.”
Captain Brendan Styer showed his experience in high-pressure games and contributed 14 points and 2 steals, while Sam Gibbs, Junior Forward came off the bench scoring 6 points.
The Pioneers return to action Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. when they visit Penncrest High School.
