A Full Team Effort To Finish Weekend 2-0
The Conestoga Boys Varsity Basketball Team traveled to Unionville, PA one last time to complete the Unionville Tournament and defeated Freire Charter School 70-25, ending the weekend 2-0.
Conestoga’s starters Brendan Styer, Patrick Corr, Abe Dembele, Ben Robinson, and Liam Smith started off hot, with Smith getting an immediate layup off the tip, setting tone for the rest of the game. Dembele was all over the paint, grabbing rebound after rebound and locking down whoever comes into the paint. Styer, Robinson, and Corr led the offense and had outstanding defense against Freire’s guards, causing multiple turnovers.
Conestoga’s bench also came out strong with everyone able to contribute. Westin Fryberger came in with an immediate hot hand, shooting lights out all around the court. Brian Schubert, Danny Johnson, and Connor Demming provided great leadership leading to many open shot opportunities and scoring runs. Aden Kim, Landon Ross, and Jack Vesey battled it out with the bigs in the paint, snatching multiple rebounds for second chance points, further increasing the lead.
Head Coach Sean Forcine showed nothing but amazement and proudness for the team. We asked for his input on the boys’ play:
“I am really happy about the level of effort our guys put in the moment they step on the court. There hasn’t been any lacks in our energy and communication. It’s very easy for a young team like this to take a possession off here and there or to get caught up in the scoreboard, and we have not done that yet so I give these guys tremendous amount of credit for really believing in the system and playing as hard as they can for all 32 minutes.”
Conestoga will be traveling again on Monday, Dec. 5 against Neshaminy High School at 7:00 PM.
